TAEKWONDO FOR ALL
Taekwondo is the perfect activity for children to develop self-confidence, balance, coordination, discipline, and respect, all while gaining essential self-defence skills. Our classes are designed for kids aged 2 and up.
MINI MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM
Our Mini Martial Arts program is perfect for children aged 2-5 years. It focuses on developing balance, coordination, and confidence through engaging, age-appropriate activities. Guided by experienced instructors, kids learn the basics of martial arts in a fun and supportive environment.
Designed for kids and teens aged 6-16 years, these classes provide a dynamic mix of martial arts training, self-defense skills, and character development. Students build discipline, confidence, and resilience while progressing at their own pace in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
While the primary focus of Taekwondo at TKA is to develop strong character and values, students also learn essential self-defense skills. Our instructors consistently emphasise that these skills must never be misused under any circumstances. If a student misuses their Taekwondo training, whether at home or school, we encourage parents to inform us so we can work together to address the behaviour and reinforce the importance of using their skills responsibly.
Dealing with Bullying?
Martial arts, such as Taekwondo, can play a transformative role in addressing the issue of bullying, offering support to both children who are bullied and those who bully others. For children who are bullied, Taekwondo builds confidence and self-esteem, helping them feel more empowered and less like easy targets. The structured training instills a sense of self-worth that often deters bullying without the need for confrontation. Additionally, instructors encourage children to speak up about bullying to parents, teachers, or guardians, creating an open line of communication. For children who are too shy to share their experiences with parents, Taekwondo provides a safe environment where they can confide in their instructor, allowing the instructor to notify parents and collaborate on how best to help the child.
For children who engage in bullying, martial arts offers a path to change by addressing the root causes of their behaviour. Bullying often stems from low self-esteem, and as these children gain confidence through Taekwondo, their need to assert control or harm others diminishes. Instructors also stress the importance of using martial arts solely for self-defense and emphasize the consequences of misuse, such as suspension from training. By working closely with parents, instructors can address concerns about bullying and reinforce positive behavior. Taekwondo focuses on character development, self-discipline, and accountability, providing children with the tools they need to grow into respectful and empathetic individuals while reducing the harmful effects of bullying.
Goals and Achievements
At TKA, our Taekwondo program features a coloured belt system that begins with White belt and progresses through Yellow, Green, Blue, Red, Brown, Red Black, and ultimately, Black belt. This system not only tracks a student’s growth but also provides an exciting and meaningful journey. Students are encouraged to set goals for each belt level, fostering valuable life skills like goal-setting, perseverance, and the determination to achieve success.
We offer classes for kids, teens, and adults of all skill levels FROM AGE 2+. Our programs are designed to suit beginners as well as experienced practitioners.
